Sunday Morning Bible Study: "Life Together; Study of the Fragility and Resilience of the Christian Community. How the Community, so tragically broken, Becomes the Beloved Community"

A Study of the Fragility and Resilience of the Christian Community. How the Community, so tragically broken, Becomes the Beloved Community" With Rev. Dr. Phil Kuehnert at 9:30 and 10:45 am in Founders Hall

A Bible Study

This Bible Study has three sources – Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together¨(LT), Dr. Kuehnert’s six trombone devotional videos The Vagaries of Community (VC) and the hymns featured in the devotional videos. Each Session layers these three with expanded commentary, mostly based on the brief devotional comments that went with the videos.

In this Study we will acknowledge the fragile nature and enduring resilience of the Holy Christian Church as demonstrated in the history of the first Holy Christian Church. From Palm Sunday to its fulfilment on Pentecost Sunday.

We will also discuss what it is to celebrate the extraordinary privilege of being part of a worshipping community; “A Christian needs others because of Jesus Christ, the Christian comes to others only through Jesus Christ, and that in Jesus Christ we have been chosen from eternity, accepted in time, and united for eternity” LT p. 21. (All LT pages are in the 1954 HarperOne edition. Newer Editions will have different page numbers.

Copies of Bonhoeffer's Life Together ($12.00_) will be available for those who sign up for the course,

The Study is based in part on the recently published book Building Beloved Community in a Broken World, co-authored by Rev Kuehnert.
